173: A list of things that make me so happy I could cry

The smell of bookstores, the way toddlers clap with full palms, evenings in front of a fireplace, the old couples in the park who take walks holding hands, when strangers on the subway realize they speak the same language and erupt into a joyful flurry of French or German or Mandarin, twinkle lights hung over the sidewalks, when everyone clumps together at the river’s edge to take a picture of the sunset, friends who know your coffee order, the way dogs run when they’re first taken off leash, the quiet that comes with snow, six foot tall sunflowers, trying to do the moonwalk in socks, sidewalk chalk art left by little ones, lighting candles because people are coming over, when someone you love says your name
